Hey authors, illustrators, librarians, teachers, publishers and anyone who love children's books. It only happens every two years and this year it's in Canberra - my home town! The Children's Book Council of Australia's National Conference, June 10 - 12. Get ready for three days of dynamic professional development, delivered by exceptional talent, surrounded by peers and professionals driven to build a world of powerful and inspirational children's literature.
You'll hear from the likes of multi-award winner Claire Saxby, professional speakers such as Sue Whiting and Gina Newton (I'll be on a panel talking about creating impactful information books for kids), plus new voices including Kate Foster and Jordan Collins, to just name a few. Co-curators the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) have planned pitching and storytelling sessions. These are aimed at bringing writers and publishers together and providing a window for attendees to see where and how the books we love, begin!
